Everything You Can Do with Your Inter US Global Account: A Complete Guide to Features and Benefits
If you've just opened your Inter US Global Account — or you're still deciding whether to — you might be wondering what it actually lets you do day to day. The short answer: a lot more than just holding a balance. From adding money in a few different ways to sending transfers, setting up direct deposit, and keeping your information up to date, your Global Account is built to handle most of your everyday financial needs in one place.
Here's a full walkthrough of every feature, how it works, and what to expect along the way.
Getting Started: Opening Your Inter US Global Account
Opening the account happens entirely inside the app, and for most people it takes just a few minutes.
You'll start by filling out some basic personal information — your first and last name and your date of birth — and agreeing to Inter's terms, provided through its banking partner, Continental Bank, Member FDIC. From there, you'll move on to more details, like your occupation, estimated annual income, and your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). Inter also sends a quick verification code to your phone and email to confirm both.
Who Can Open an Account
To open a Global Account, you must be at least 18, you'll need a valid SSN or ITIN. If you don't have either, the app will let you know before you continue with the application process.
What You'll Need
Once your tax ID is submitted, Inter checks it automatically. If everything matches up, you're done with document verification — no photo ID needed. If it doesn't validate right away, you'll be asked to take a quick photo of a government-issued ID (like a driver's license or passport) plus a selfie, just to confirm it's really you.

How Fast Approval Happens
After you accept the terms and conditions, your account goes through a standard verification process. In some cases, approval may happen within minutes, while other applications may require additional review. You'll receive a notification as soon as your account is ready to use.
How to Add Money to Your Global Account
Once your account is open, funding it is straightforward — Inter offers several ways to do it, and the feature is available to every U.S. account holder.
Debit card. You can add money instantly using a debit card, with no fee from Inter. Just enter the amount, choose your card, and confirm.
Credit card. Same process as debit, but keep in mind that credit card top-ups carry a 2.75% fee.
Global wallet. If you'd rather skip typing in card details, Apple Pay works right from the same screen — pick your amount, confirm with Face ID or your device's side button, and the money lands in your account right away. There's no fee for this method.
Bank account via Plaid. For a more traditional option, you can securely link an existing bank account through Plaid. Once it's connected, you can add money by simply pulling funds directly from that account — no routing or account numbers to type in by hand, and no fee either.

Sending and Receiving Money: Your Transfer Options
This is where the Global Account really shows its range. Depending on who you're sending money to and how fast you need it there, you've got four options.
InterPAY is the fastest and most convenient if you're sending money to someone else who also has an Inter account. You just need one piece of information about them — their email, phone number, Inter username (the "@" handle), or account number — and the transfer happens instantly, with no fee. You can also send to people from your phone contacts, as long as they've agreed to share that information.
ACH transfers move money to any U.S. bank account. There's no fee, but it takes a bit longer — typically 1 to 3 business days. You'll need the recipient's full name, routing number, account number, zip code, and address.
Wire transfers are the faster alternative when timing matters more than cost. They typically complete within 24 hours, though a $15 fee applies. The recipient information required is the same as ACH.
International transfers let you send money abroad, with the same underlying flow but adjusted for the receiving country's requirements.

Set Up Direct Deposit
If you get paid by an employer, setting up direct deposit means your paycheck lands in your Inter account automatically, without you having to do anything each pay period.
The nicest part of this feature is that Inter builds the form for you. You choose whether you want your entire paycheck deposited or just a percentage, and the app generates a pre-filled direct deposit form with your account details already in it. From there, you can share that form directly with your employer — over email, WhatsApp, or however you'd usually send them a document.

Keeping Your Account Information Up to Date
Life changes, and sometimes your account needs to reflect that — a new address, a name change, an updated occupation.
Right now, updating your registered information means reaching out through Inter's support channels, who'll take care of the change on your behalf. It's a manual step for now, but it's on the roadmap to change: Inter is working on letting you update this information directly in the app, with built-in security validation, so you won't need to contact support for routine changes.
