FAQ - Smart Credit
What is Smart Credit?
Smart Credit is a program designed to help you grow your credit limit over time — just by using your card and paying your balance in full each month. Complete simple milestones across 6 levels and watch your limit climb up to $1,000.
Participation in Smart Credit does not guarantee an improvement in your credit score.
Does enrolling in Smart Credit affect my credit score?
No. Enrolling in Smart Credit does not directly affect your credit score. However, your credit score may change over time based on factors such as your payment history, credit utilization, and overall credit profile.
Who can participate?
You may be eligible for Smart Credit if:
- Your current credit limit is between $150 and $999.
- Your account is in good standing (for example, not past due and not restricted).
- There are no restrictions or blocks on your account.
We evaluate eligibility daily based on your account status and program requirements, so if your situation changes, you may become eligible in the future.
What is a "billing cycle"?
A billing cycle is the period between one statement closing date and the next. Think of it as your monthly window to complete a mission.
Your billing cycle dates can be found on your monthly statement and in the app. Keep in mind that your billing cycle may not align exactly with a calendar month.
What do I need to do to complete a mission?
During each billing cycle, you must:
- Make purchases totaling at least 25% of your credit limit during the billing cycle.
- Pay your full statement balance by the payment due date.
The full statement balance is the total amount shown on your monthly statement. Payments received after the due date will not count toward mission completion, even if the full statement balance is paid. Your payment due date is listed on your monthly statement.
How do the levels work?
There are six levels in the Smart Credit program.
Level 1 can be completed during any billing cycle. No streak is required.
Levels 2 through 6 require consecutive successful billing cycles.
To progress through Levels 2 through 6, you must complete each mission in back-to-back billing cycles.
If you miss a billing cycle, you will keep any credit limit increases you have already earned. However, your progress toward the current level will reset.
Can I skip a month and keep my progress?
For Levels 2 through 6, missions must be completed in consecutive billing cycles. If you miss a qualifying cycle, your progress toward the current level resets, but any credit limit increases you've already earned remain on your account.
How much can my credit limit increase?
You can receive up to $850 in total credit limit increases through the program.
The increases are awarded across six levels:
- Level 1: +$50
- Level 2: +$50
- Level 3: +$100
- Level 4: +$150
- Level 5: +$200
- Level 6: +$300
The maximum credit limit available through Smart Credit is $1,000.
What happens if I break my streak?
Your previously earned credit limit increases are yours to keep — they won't be taken away.
The only thing that resets is your progress toward the current level.
Just pick up where you left off and start building your streak again.
What if completing a level would push me past $1,000?
No problem — you'll receive just enough to reach exactly $1,000, and the program will wrap up automatically at that point.
For example, if your limit is $999, you'll receive a $1 increase to hit the cap.
Will I ever be able to have a credit limit above $1,000?
Yes. The $1,000 maximum applies only to the Smart Credit program. Once you reach $1,000, you will have completed the program, but you may still be eligible for future credit limit increases through our regular credit review process.
Any future credit limit increases will be based on factors such as account performance, eligibility requirements, and our credit policies at the time of review.
When will I see my credit limit increase?
We review qualifying accounts one business day after the payment due date.
If all program requirements have been met, any eligible credit limit increase will be applied to your account at that time.
