Miami, Florida, January 12, 2025 – Inter today announced an expansion of its global payments infrastructure, scaling its technology stack to support real-time, high-volume cross-border money movement for platforms and enterprises. The expanded infrastructure reinforces Inter’s position as a payments technology provider, unifying instant payout networks, regulated settlement, foreign exchange, and local clearing into a single system built for continuous, high velocity flows.
As part of the expansion, Inter has partnered with TerraPay to access their expansive network that includes 3.7 billion digital wallets and over 7.5 billion bank accounts across the globe. Inter will further join Xend, TerraPay’s recently launched roaming network for wallets, and first of its kind to enable direct bank to wallet cross-border transfers. Inter serves as the licensed settling institution for these transactions in Brazil and the United States, with settlement in BRL and USD.
This update positions Inter as one of the top digital platforms with active payment rails and settlement capabilities in both Brazil and the U.S., allowing companies to consolidate compliance, liquidity, FX, and payouts within a single operating environment, processing most payments in under one minute.
“Our focus is building a payment infrastructure that behaves like software, not legacy banking,” said Ralph Boragina, Head of Cross Border Payments at Inter. “These rails are designed to operate in real time, scale predictably, and support businesses that move money continuously, providing our customers with access to real-time payments worldwide.”
In Brazil, Inter supports instant payments through PIX, non -resident third party payment accounts, and regulated FX execution, ranking among the country’s largest PIX payers and leading FX operators by number of contracts registered with the Central Bank. In the United States, Inter processes instant payments through InterPAY, alongside Same Day ACH and Real Time Payment (RTP).
The expanded platform supports marketplaces, logistics and mobility platforms, creator economies, supplier networks, and global companies managing recurring or high frequency international disbursements.
