Inter Bike Miami: a new way to explore the city

Great news for cyclists: Miami has a new mobility and leisure option with the launch of Inter Bike Miami along The Underline. This bike share system was designed for anyone who wants to enjoy Mimi at their own pace, whether for a leisurely ride, exercise, or simply getting around in a lighter, more sustainable way.

The bikes were designed to be comfortable and practical for everyday use in Miami. Each one includes GPS trackingand smart locks to make the rental experience simple and secure. Several stations also feature solar-powered components, aligning with the project’s broader focus on sustainability.

How the system works

Using Inter Bike is straightforward. Everything is done through a mobile app where you can locate, unlock, and rent bikes from stations along The Underline. Just download the Inter Bike app, choose your rental option, scan the bike’s QR code, and when you're done, return it to any official station.

To end your ride, make sure the bike clicks securely into the dock. Once your return is complete, the light on the dock will turn green, ensuring your rental is properly closed and avoiding extra charges. With multiple stations along the park, you can start your ride in one place and end it in another, making it easy to explore different parts of the city.

Cyclists will have three options to rent a bike:

•Free rides: Inter customers get up to 60 minutes free per day, every 24 hours. See the step-by-step guide below on how to activate your benefit.

• There are also options for longer rentals(starting at $4.95) and monthly subscriptions.

Inter Client, here’s how to get your free ride

1. Find a station: Visit interbikemiami.com to view the station map and choose a docking station nearby.

2. Create your account: On your phone, go to https://members.interbikemiami.com/, enter your name and the first six digits of your Inter card (credit or debit) to validate your status, and complete your registration.

3. Create your account: Enter the first six digits of your Inter credit or debit card to verify your Inter Client status, then complete the registration process.

4. Unlock a bike: At the docking station, pick a bike and scan the QR code near the handlebars with your phone. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Ride free: Pull the bike firmly from the dock and start your ride. You get one free rental per day, up to 60 minutes. If you ride longer, the standard rate applies in 30-minute increments.

6. Return the bike: When you’re done, dock the bike at any Inter Bike station. Firmly push it into the dock and wait for the green light to confirm it’s secured.

Where Inter Bike fits into your day-to-day

Beyond leisure rides, the system is perfect for:

  • Quick trips like grabbing coffee or stopping by a nearby market

  • Connecting home to public transit stations

  • Getting some fresh air before or after work

  • Explore the city at your own pace, on your own or with friends

Practical tips

  • Plan your route with station locations in mind.

  • Helmets aren’t provided, but using one is recommended.

  • The system is designed for short trips, not long distance rides.

  • Adjust the seat, check brakes and tires, and make sure your phone has enough battery to end your ride.

  • You’re responsible for the bike until it locks into the dock and the light on the dock turns green.

 Inter Bike is already up and running, with stations installed throughout Brickell, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, making it easy for Miami residents to ride from Brickell all the way to Dadeland. In the app, you can check bike availability and dock spaces in real time, making it easier to plan your route.

Remember: you must be 18 or older to use the bikes.
